President John Dramani Mahama has announced that several major roads in the Bono Region have been earmarked for redevelopment under the Big Push infrastructure initiative.

Speaking during his Thank You Tour in the Bono Region, president Mahama said key roads such as the Sunyani Inner and Outer Ring Road, the Alaska Catholic University Road, the Berekum-Sampa Road, the Sampa-Wenchi Road, the Odumasi-Bedu Road, the Sunyani-Techiman Road, and the Kumasi-Sunyani Road will all undergo massive redevelopment.

He revealed that the Finance Minister has made adequate financial provisions to ensure the timely completion of these projects.

“Critical projects such as the Sunyani inner and outer ring roads, the Alaska Catholic University road, the Berekum–Sampa road, the Sampa–Wenchi road, the Odumasi–Bedu road, the Sunyani–Techiman road, and the Kumasi–Sunyani road have all been captured for massive redevelopment.”

“These roads have been prioritized under our Big Push infrastructure program, and I’m happy to announce to you that the Minister of Finance has made adequate financial provision for these roads”

According to him, the Finance Minister has assured that funding will not be a problem.

He explained that every contractor working under the Big Push initiative will be paid within two weeks after submitting a certificate for payment.

“And I’m happy to announce to you that the Minister of Finance has made adequate financial provision for these roads.”

“Indeed, the Minister of Finance has told me to tell you that funding will not be an excuse. Every contractor who will be working under the Big Push, when he raises a certificate for payment, within two weeks, he will receive his money.”

President Mahama further stated that infrastructure is the backbone of every thriving society, yet in the Bono Region, many roads remain incomplete, leaving communities isolated and slowing down development.

He said several of these important road projects were started during his previous term in office, but after the change of government in 2017, most of them were halted.

Today, he says many of these projects remain uncompleted and abandoned.

He added that these unfinished roads cannot be part of the 10,000 kilometers of roads the previous government claimed to have constructed.
