The Akim Oda District Court has approved bail for Birim Central Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Solomon Kusi Brako and eight others, accused of destroying billboards highlighting the struggles of cocoa farmers following a price reduction.
The eight individuals – Ekow Davies, Afrifa Prince, Okai Prince, Okai Francis, Anim Maxwell, Nartey Isaac, Michael Agbesi, Oduro Eric, and Diana Tutuwaa – each received a GH¢10,000 bail with a surety and have pleaded not guilty.

Mr. Kusi Brako, the 9th accused, was granted self-recognisance bail of GH¢5,000. Prosecutors claim the eight acted on Brako’s orders to destroy the billboards, which were legally erected to raise awareness about cocoa farmers’ plights.
Sources indicate Brako admitted to authorizing the destruction without proper authorization in his police statement.
The MCE is also alleged to have ordered the removal of a billboard featuring NPP presidential candidate Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia at the new Oda Central market.

The case is set to continue on May 6, 2026.
