The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed the evacuation of eighty-five (85) Ghanaian nationals from Cambodia between March and May 2026.
According to the ministry, these were Ghanaians residing in Cambodia who expressed desire to voluntarily return to Ghana.
“The Government of the Republic of Ghana through its High Commission in Malaysia which is concurrently accredited to the Kingdom of Cambodia in collaboration with relevant stakeholders has already facilitated the evacuation of eighty-five (85) Ghanaian nationals between March and May, 2026.”
In a statement dated May 29, 2026, it explained that the exercise was facilitated through Ghana’s High Commission in Malaysia, which is concurrently accredited to Cambodia.
It further disclosed that arrangements are ongoing to evacuate an additional seventy-six (76) nationals who have expressed interest in returning home.
“The Ministry will continue to work in close collaboration with all relevant authorities to ensure the safety, welfare and protection of Ghanaian nationals in Cambodia,” the statement said.
The Ministry emphasised its continued collaboration with relevant authorities to ensure the safety, welfare, and protection of Ghanaian nationals in Cambodia.
It commended the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia for its cooperation in the evacuation process.
This disclosure was made while dismissing reports alleging that the Cambodian government had issued an ultimatum to Ghanaian nationals and other Africans.
It described such claims as false and urged the public to rely on official sources for accurate information on matters of such development.
