The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) will hold a metro-wide massive clean-up exercise on Saturday, June 6, 2026, with all trading and commercial activities suspended until 12 noon to allow residents to participate.

In a statement issued on Monday, June 1, the Assembly said the exercise will run from 6am to 12 noon and forms part of government’s sanitation efforts.

The KMA is calling on residents, social groups, corporate bodies and the business community within the Metropolis to take part in the all-inclusive clean-up.

During the exercise, no commercial vehicles will be allowed to operate in several key areas.

The affected zones include the stretch from the frontage of Kumasi Children’s Hospital through Zoo Roundabout to Komfo Anokye Roundabout, Adum Pampaso Lorry Station through Otumfuo Roundabout to Donkirk, Racecourse Market, Bantama Market and its environs, and Asafo Market through the VIP Bus Terminal to Asafo Cement Roundabout.

The Assembly directed that all trading and commercial activities in the Metropolis remain closed until 12 noon while the exercise takes place.

Groups or organizations interested in participating are to contact the Head of the Environmental Health Unit, Mr. Kwaku Poku on 0243351800 for logistics and guidance.
