The Ghana Standards Authority (GSA) has debunked a publication circulating on social and mainstream media purporting to show pesticide residues found in okra and cabbage, and is urging Ghanaians not to rely on it.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, the Authority said it has “not authorised, endorsed or issued” any such publication.
The Authority stated that it is aware of the said publication and that its content does not originate from, and has not been verified by GSA.
The regulator advised members of the public, media houses, and stakeholders to disregard the publication and to depend only on official GSA communication on food safety and product conformity.
Citizens seeking accurate, verified information were urged to contact the Authority through its official channels. The GSA’s website is www.gsa.gov.gh and its contact lines are 0302-500065/6.
The Public Relations Department, which issued the notice, reiterated that GSA remains committed to safeguarding public health and ensuring that only credible, scientifically verified information is shared on matters within its regulatory mandate.
