Kumawood actress Maa Adwoa has credited filmmaker and actress Vivian Jill Lawrence for transforming her life, saying the support she has received from the actress has helped her overcome years of hardship.
Speaking on Jill’s Foundation on July 26, 2026, Maa Adwoa, who gained recognition through Vivian Jill’s Abrewa Maafia series, said the actress has consistently supported her and her children, helping her rebuild her life.
According to Maa Adwoa, Vivian Jill’s financial assistance enabled her to rent her own apartment, something she believes would not have been possible without her.
She disclosed that before meeting Vivian Jill, she was living under very difficult conditions, but the filmmaker’s generosity completely changed her circumstances.
“Because of Vivian Jill’s support, I have been able to rent an apartment and finally have a place to call my own. The money she gives me and everything she has done for me have made a huge difference in my life. Anyone who knew where I came from would understand the kind of life I was living. If I hadn’t met her, I might not even be alive today,” she said.
Maa Adwoa also recounted how Vivian Jill came to her aid when she became seriously ill in Kumasi.
According to her, although Vivian Jill was in Accra, she called after hearing about her condition. When she told her she was too weak, the actress immediately asked her to contact the driver who usually transported her to movie locations so she could be taken to the hospital.
She added that Vivian Jill assured her she would travel from Accra to Kumasi to visit her.
Maa Adwoa said Vivian Jill arrived at the hospital shortly after she was admitted and remained by her side throughout her treatment.
She further revealed that Vivian Jill even prepared food for her, explaining that she had been unable to eat or drink properly for nearly three months until she received medical attention.
The actress expressed gratitude to Vivian Jill, stating that her kindness has restored her dignity and changed her life for the better.
“My children and I are extremely grateful to her. Without Vivian Jill, society would have looked down on me, even though I am also a human being. I acted for more than 16 years, yet I didn’t even have GH¢1 saved because I wasn’t being paid for my work.
“But everything changed after I started working with Vivian Jill. Even when we’re not working and she drops me off, she still gives me money to take care of my children,” Maa Adwoa stated.
