The President of the Licensed Cocoa Buyers Association of Ghana (LICOBAG), Samuel Animado, has called on Ghana’s private sector to take a leading role in creating jobs, supporting local industries and driving economic transformation.
Delivering the keynote address at the 2nd edition of the Ghana 100 Trailblazers Conference and Awards organised by the Business Executive Group at the Alisa Hotel in Accra, Mr Animado said businesses remain central to Ghana’s development agenda through their ability to create employment, strengthen local production and develop innovative solutions to economic challenges.
“Our business community has a critical role to play in creating jobs, promoting innovation, supporting local industries, and driving economic transformation.”
Mr Animado said Ghana’s business environment requires resilient companies, ethical governance and stronger partnerships among industry players, government institutions and knowledge-based organisations.
He stressed that supporting small and medium-sized enterprises, women-led businesses and emerging entrepreneurs would strengthen the foundation of a more competitive economy.
He further encouraged businesses to embrace technology and digital transformation to improve productivity, enhance competitiveness and respond effectively to global economic changes.
As part of his vision for stronger private-sector collaboration, Mr Animado announced that LICOBAG will transition into the Chamber of Cocoa Marketers on 13 August 2026, bringing together cocoa marketers, financial institutions, processors, insurers and academia.
According to him, the Chamber will promote investment, research, innovation and sustainable growth across Ghana’s cocoa industry.
The Ghana 100 Trailblazers Conference and Awards brought together some of Ghana’s most influential business leaders, entrepreneurs and industry players in a grand red-themed celebration of achievement and enterprise.
Held under the theme “Opening new pathways for Ghana’s socioeconomic development,” the event recognised trailblazers whose leadership and innovation are helping to redefine Ghana’s economic landscape while inspiring deeper collaboration among stakeholders.
