The Ghana Police Service has revealed the cause of the accident that occurred on Saturday, February 14, on the Accra–Nsawam road.
According to the Ghana Police, their investigation indicates that the driver lost control of the vehicle, which led to a bulk blast and caused fuel to splash onto vehicles behind it.
They reaffirmed that six vehicles and four motorcycles were burnt.
They indicated that two unidentified male charred bodies were found at the scene and that one unidentified body was discovered in one of the burnt vehicles.
The report further stated that about four people who sustained injuries from the blast were rushed to nearby health facilities for medical attention.
It added that the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) units from Suhum and Nsawam were at the scene to douse the fire.
The statement further said the police have commenced visits to nearby hospitals to identify victims, while efforts are under way to remove the accident vehicles from the scene to ease traffic.
It warned that motorists commuting on that stretch of road should reduce their speed and comply with police directives to ensure safety.
