Presidential Aide and Government Communication Team Member, Dr. Samuel Ayeh, says the growing disquiet over the disruption of healthcare delivery at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) due to the strike action by doctors and nurses could soon be over.

He disclosed on Angel TV on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, that stakeholders are deliberating on resolving the matter and ensuring that finality is brought to the issue by the close of the day.

Dr. Ayeh’s disclosure relates to the interruption of healthcare delivery at the facility, with patients reportedly stranded on Monday, June 8, 2026, amid doctors’ and nurses’ protests against the suspension of their Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr. Paa Kwesi Baidoo.

Speaking on the matter, Dr. Ayeh indicated that he is privy to ongoing efforts by the government aimed at getting the striking health workers to return to duty.

“It is an unfortunate issue, it is not something that anyone will be pleased with because health they say, is wealth. So, if any situation hampers health delivery, it becomes very disturbing.

“Let me put on record that the government is unhappy about what is happening likewise Ghanaians as well.

”Government is employing all measures needed to addressed what is happening. In fact, I’m aware that on Sunday, June 7, the Ashanti Regional Minister [Dr. Frank Amoakohene] met all the stakeholders of KATH so maybe by the close of the day, we will get a positive response from the striking doctors to bring a finality to the issue,” she told Ohemaa Sakyiwaa.
