Renowned Afro-dancehall, reggae, and Afropop artist Livingston Etse Satekla, popularly known as Stonebwoy, has criticized musicians for not doing enough to strengthen the Musicians’ Union of Ghana (MUSIGA).
Speaking on Angel FM/ TV’s Anopa Bofo morning show on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, Stonebwoy emphasized the need for ethics and strong internal support within the Ghanaian music industry.
“We haven’t empowered MUSIGA well enough, even as musicians, vice versa, but it is a body of musicians, so it is we who can go there and create the power that can look after us,” he stated.
The “Nominate Me” hitmaker highlighted that the music industry is open to everyone, which calls for an unbiased authority to uphold standards and prevent disorder.
He also urged fans to act responsibly, speak the truth, and avoid blindly defending artists.
According to Stonebwoy, the industry should operate on a foundation of truth, facts, and morals, ensuring fairness and accountability.
“Artistes must have clearly defined moral and factual boundaries to guide their behavior. If someone commits a crime, the state can intervene and possibly take legal action,” he added.
