Shatta Wale has shed light on his relationship with Nigerian music superstars Davido and Burna Boy, explaining why fans no longer see him spending as much time with the two artistes as they did in the past.
Speaking in a recent interview, Shatta Wale revealed that his friendship with Davido dates back several years and was built on mutual respect and admiration for each other’s music.
According to him, their relationship began after the Nigerian singer approached him and shared how much his father admired one of his songs.
“I met Davido first. He came to me and told me his dad loved one song I did way back, and that’s how he fell in love with my music. We had a very good relationship,” Shatta Wale disclosed.
However, he explained that as their careers continued to grow and their schedules became busier, it became difficult to maintain the same level of interaction.
“You know life, when things start moving, and it happens so fast, we just have to accept it. That’s why people don’t see me with Davido that much,” he said.
Shatta Wale also spoke warmly about his relationship with Grammy Award-winning artiste Burna Boy, describing the Nigerian star as a brother and someone he supported during difficult moments in his career.
“With Burna, he’s like my twin brother. He came to Ghana at a time when things were very rough, but I saw him as family,” he said.
The dancehall musician noted that he felt a natural connection with Burna Boy and made efforts to support him during his stay in Ghana.
“I just tried to play a few roles around him. And now he’s busy too. Sometimes I just look at his picture and say, Davido was busy and now you’re busy too,” he added.
Despite the reduced interactions with the two African music giants, Shatta Wale insists there is no bad blood between them. Instead, he sees their success as a source of motivation and inspiration for his own journey.
He emphasized his commitment to helping push Ghanaian music onto the global stage and believes his experiences with international stars have strengthened his determination to achieve even greater success.
“I also think I have a mission in my country to push the agenda of us going international. I see all of them as my motivation. If I’ve met these people and I’ve been able to break through, then there’s a way I should work out my things,” he stated.
The award-winning artiste further hinted that music lovers could eventually see him collaborate with both Davido and Burna Boy, expressing confidence that such projects could happen in the future.
“I think gradually we’re going to have good collaborations,” he said.
