Award-winning radio presenter and author, DJ Ohemaa Woyeje, has opened up about the inspiration behind her newly launched book, ‘Life Beyond Opinions’.
She revealed that her desire to address societal pressures, low self-esteem, and the constant need for validation motivated her to put her thoughts into writing.
Speaking at the launch of the book at the Exhibition Hall of the National Theatre in Accra on Sunday, June 7, 2026, the celebrated broadcaster said the growing challenges people face in today’s world inspired her to write a book that would encourage confidence, resilience, and self-acceptance.
“There are a lot of things going on in the world, so I thought about it and decided to write my thoughts on it,” she said.

According to her, many people struggle to cope with criticism and public scrutiny, often losing sight of who they truly are in the process.
“Sometimes, the things that happen to certain people, when they happen to others, not everyone can stand it. Some people are losing contact with their own identity. A lot of people listen to others, and it intimidates them. They don’t believe in themselves; they feel they are not good enough, and they develop low self-esteem,” she explained.
She noted that the primary aim of the book is to empower individuals who battle self-doubt and help them discover their worth.
“I simply wrote this book to uplift people who have low self-esteem, to help them know themselves and become empowered. The book creates awareness and talks about beauty standards. Everyone is okay in their own way,” she stated.
Drawing from her own life experiences, DJ Ohemaa Woyeje disclosed that she has personally endured bullying but refused to allow the negative opinions of others to define her.
“I have lived through bullying, but despite everything I have been through, I still walk with my full chest. If you listen to me on radio, I deliver. I don’t listen to public opinions. I do what’s best for me and what benefits me. I live my truth,” she said.
She stressed that confidence is one of the most powerful tools an individual can possess, adding that people should never measure their value against others.
“As far as I am concerned, nobody is better than me. I am better, you are better. You are not above me, and I am not above you. You are beautiful, and I am beautiful. Once you understand that, nobody can kill your confidence,” she remarked.
The broadcaster further explained that while the book touches on beauty standards and self-image, it explores a wide range of topics affecting everyday life.
“It’s confidence that takes people far. The book is about confidence, courage, resilience, and the power to ignore the noise. It doesn’t only talk about beauty contests; it also discusses relationships, parenting, and many other aspects of life,” she added.
