Former Member of Parliament (MP) for the Afram Plains North Constituency in the Eastern Region, Betty Nana Efua Krosbi Mensah, has declared her intentions to contest for the National Women’s Organiser position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The decision, according to her, was reached following extensive consultations with her mentors, who considered her candidacy a perfect match for the position, along with her women’s empowerment advocates.
Speaking publicly on her bid for the first time on Angel TV, Mrs. Krosbi Mensah announced that her intentions were clear and that come December 2026, she would contest for the position.
“This morning, I’m giving you a clue. For the past two months, I have had a lot of consultations about my background, where I hail from, and how firmly I have stood over the years as a gender advocate when it comes to fighting for women’s empowerment and gender equality. I am bringing on board enthusiasm and energy.
“So far, so good. I just returned from Kumasi in the Ashanti Region with ongoing consultations, and intentions are very clear that come December 2026, I will be contesting to be elected as the National Women’s Organiser of the NDC. I am fully confident in my candidature based on the consultations I have undertaken so far,” She disclosed to Saddick Adams on Tuesday, April 14, 2026.
According to the National Women’s Organiser hopeful, who currently serves as the Senior Technical Advisor to the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, her candidacy presents a vast experience of understanding the well-being of women and a voice to empower them.
“Most of my leaders believe that, considering the position of my party now, ‘the only political party in the country, NDC’, we need a strong voice and a figure who is well-endowed with women’s understanding who also has that kind of energy to rally behind the wings.”
She contended that “I am bringing on board enthusiasm and energy.”
Betty Nana Efua Krosbi Mensah, born on August 29, 1980, in Donkorkrom in the Eastern Region, is a strong voice within the NDC. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Zenith University College and a Higher National Diploma (HND) in Accounting from Koforidua Technical University.
In the 2016 general elections for the Parliamentary seat of Afram Plains, Ms. Mensah received a total vote count of 18,121 out of 23,606 votes cast, representing 78.44% to beat Isaac Ofori-Koree of the New Patriotic Party, Cornelius Agbeku of the National Democratic Party, and Micheal Ampontia of the Convention People’s Party to win the seat in the 7th Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana.
Before she became an MP, Ms. Mensah was the Managing Director of BestPat Ghana Limited from 2013 to 2016. She also served as the Second Deputy Coordinator for the National Youth Employment from 2009 to 2013.
