Ghana Education Service (GES), in collaboration with UNESCO and Beijing Normal University, has organized a week-long Girls in Tech Camp at Bagabaga College of Education in Tamale.
The camp, which took place from April 13th to 17th, 2026, aimed to equip girls with technological skills to become globally competitive.
Over 60 girls from various schools, including Northern School of Business, Tamale Senior High School, and Tamale Girls Senior High School, participated in the camp.
They engaged in training, orientation, and practical sessions designed to enhance their digital and technological competencies, particularly in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM).
A highlight of the camp was a visit to Red Clay Studio, where the girls witnessed firsthand how creativity and innovation can be transformed into tangible outcomes.
They also interacted with inspiring female mentors who shared personal experiences and offered guidance, reinforcing the message that their aspirations are valid and achievable.
The Director-General of Ghana Education Service, Prof. Kofi Davis, was represented by Deputy Director-General Dr. Issahaque Munawaru, who encouraged the girls to take STEM education seriously.
Tamale Senior High School was recognized as the Overall Best School for its outstanding performance and commitment throughout the camp.
