The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Adentan Municipality, Christiana Ella Esinam Nongo, has attributed the zero casualties recorded during the June 30, 2026 flooding to proactive measures taken by the Assembly ahead of the heavy downpour.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Angel News’ Kwadwo Baffour at the Municipal Assembly in Accra, the MCE said the Assembly took bold steps to demolish unauthorized structures on waterways to allow for the free flow of rainwater.

According to her, it takes a courageous leader to embark on such a demolition exercise, considering the financial investment involved for individuals who build in the country.
She assured residents of Adentan and its environs of her commitment to making the municipality flood-free in order to attract more investors.
Nongo added that the Assembly has intensified the process of acquiring land and building permits within Adentan to help curb perennial flooding. She noted that most buildings found on waterways are a result of permits issued by various assemblies without due diligence.

“It is necessary to intensify the processes of acquiring land permits for unauthorized buildings,” she said.
Shefurther said “various assemblies should take a cue from what happened on Monday, June 30, 2026, and reform their process of issuing building permits, especially for structures on waterways.”
