Black Stars defender Marvin Senaya has been ruled out for several weeks after undergoing successful surgery for a hamstring injury sustained during the team’s campaign at the 2026 World Cup.
The right-back was substituted during Ghana’s Round of 32 defeat to Colombia on Friday, July 3, 2026.
Following this, the Black Stars medical team confirmed the injury after conducting an MRI scan in Kansas City, which revealed a significant hamstring injury.
The team’s medical staff immediately commenced initial management of the acute injury.
“The player has subsequently undergone successful surgery in Paris and has now returned to his club, AJ Auxerre, to continue his rehabilitation. Marvin is expected to be out for at least eight weeks,” a statement from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) said.
According to the GFA, there is active collaboration between the Association and AJ Auxerre to ensure a smooth rehabilitation journey for the defender.
The statement extends the best wishes of the entire playing body to the France-based player and prays for a speedy recovery.
