Deputy Chief of Staff (Administration), Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, says the government has secured over GH¢13 million in compensation for the dependants of public servants who lost their lives in the August 6, 2025 helicopter crash.

Speaking at a ceremony to present government compensation cheques at the Jubilee House, Children’s Fund certificates and health insurance packages to the families of the victims at the Jubilee House on Thursday, Deputy Chief of Staff (Administration), Nana Oye Bampoe Addo, said the compensation process had been successfully completed.

“I am happy to report that the Office of the President worked closely with the Labour Department throughout this process, from the completion of the Accident Report Forms, the filing of the court applications, to attending the proceedings at the Accra Circuit Court,” she said.

She added, “That process, conducted under the Workmen’s Compensation Act and the Armed Forces Regulations, has now secured compensation of over thirteen million Ghana cedis for the dependants of our fallen civilian officials, with compensation for our three military officers also arranged.”

Nana Oye Bampoe Addo noted that beyond the compensation, government is presenting Legacy Boxes to the families in recognition of the sacrifices made by the victims.

“Each Legacy Box contains a Children’s Fund investment certificate, a commemorative medallion bearing the image of the family’s loved one, and a personal letter written by the President to every child,” she stated.

She further disclosed that government has secured a comprehensive health insurance package for the beneficiaries.

“Inside each health package is a unique card that will give each family access to healthcare coverage under the Nationwide Medical Insurance Premier Plan, worth a combined three million Ghana cedis across all twenty-seven beneficiaries,” she said.

The Deputy Chief of Staff also reflected on the government’s support to the families over the past year, saying, “Since their burial, government has walked closely with their families, providing interim allowances, counselling, health insurance enrolment, and scholarships. This morning, we close that chapter of process and paperwork, and open a new one, built around the futures of the children and families of our fallen heroes.”
