The President of Lovers Association Worldwide non-governmental organisation (NGO), Ebenezer Kwabena Adu, is appealing to the public to support the less privileged in the society, during the COVID-19.
Mr. Adu who is also CEO of K. Adu Gas and Oven, says the novel Coronavirus has brought a large measure of untold hardships to many people across the country, especially the vulnerable and less privileged in society, as they have been deprived of their meagre livelihoods.
According to him, many orphanage homes and inmates in some prisons in Ghana are starving due to hardship and mess Covid-19 has caused.
“Under this Covid-19, less privileged in the society are struggling to survive. The public, NGOs, institutions and fun clubs shouldn’t wait till Christmas and Easter before they donate to orphanage homes, prisons and less privileged.
“This is the time we have to show them love and let them know they are part of the society,” K. Adu said after donating to Cherubs Education Center, an orphanage home at Santasi-Apire in the Kumasi metropolis of the Ashanti Region.
Items presented to the orphanage are 13 bags of rice, cooking oil, bread, drink and bottles of water.
The Founder of Cherubs Education Center, Elder Nicholas Osei Bonsu, said the COVID-19 has negatively affected donation the orphanage receives from the public.
According to him, the orphans are starving since people are afraid to come out and donate to the orphanage.
“Because of COVID-19, 70% of those who donate to us are not coming. They are afraid to come out and mingle with the kids and also the COVID-19 has affected their businesses. We are really starving,” Elder Nicholas explained.
He, therefore, expressed gratitude to the members and executives of Lovers Association Worldwide for coming to their aid.
