The National Communications Officer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), has stated that he would not take the Covid-19 vaccines.

According to him, he doesn’t have any reason to take the covid-19 vaccines, which he believes are not effective against the Coronavirus.

He also kicked against the government’s resolve to make COVID-19 vaccinations compulsory in the country which he feels should be a voluntary affair.

As part of efforts to make the Covid-19 vaccinations compulsory, the Akufo-Addo-led administration has announced plans to prevent the unvaccinated population from accessing certain public spaces such as entertainment centres.

Communications Director for the NDC, Sammy GyamfiSpeaking on Angel FM’s Anopa Bofoↄ morning show on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, Sammy Gyamfi declared that he has not taken the covid jab and has no reason or intention to do so.

Describing the compulsory vaccination as unconstitutional, the communications officer believes that Ghanaians are strong-willed and would revolt against the government’s decision to make the jabs compulsory.

Advancing arguments to support his stance, he stated that the compulsory Covid-19 would not prevent people from contracting the covid-19 disease and neither would it curb the spread of the disease or save people from re-infection and death.

Have you seen someone taking a polio vaccine getting polio, or someone taking tuberculosis vaccine getting tuberculosis, yet with the Covid-19, those dying from the disease are mostly those who are fully vaccinated. Currently in the world, the countries with the highest vaccination rates are also those with the highest infection rates such as Israel, Iceland and Portugal, he echoed.

He argued that it is better for government to rather convince Ghanaians to take the vaccines as opposed to forcing it on them.

He also noted that he does not fear the sanctions that would be imposed on persons who are unvaccinated against covid-19 such as ban on travelling.

There are many places in Ghana that I can travel to should I be banned from entering the U.S.A and besides that even in the U.S.A, you know that issue is before the Supreme Court and the feedback would be positive, he said in the Twi parlance.

Aside Sammy Gyamfi, some Ghanaians have also expressed concerns about the Covid-19 Vaccines prominent among them are Efia Odo and Bridget Otoo.

According to Efia Odo, she is skeptical about the safety and efficacy of the vaccines and for which reasons she won’t take the jab.
