The National Democratic Congress with its caucus in Parliament has rejected the council of lawyer Gabby Otchere Darko on the prepared 2023 budget.

Gabby Otchere Darko, a staunch member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) called on the NDC to reach a consensus to approve the budget which is scheduled to be read in parliament this Thursday, November 24, 2022.

According to him, the budget is crucial to the finalization of Ghana’s negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which many economic commentators already have called to be expedited.

Thursday's 2022 budget is crucial. It can't suffer a fate similar to the 2022 budget and its revenue measures. It could completely derail negotiations with the Fund if not passed. Critical to this are its revenue generation measures. We plead the NDC joins NPP in this for Ghana.

But reacting to the text of the lawyer for the embattled Finance Minister who is embroiled in a censure motion instigated by some MPs, especially from the Minority Caucus, Mr. Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor said the NDC will not take the advice.

Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor is NDC MP for South Dayi Constituency in the Volta region

The MP for South Dayi Constituency likened the call of Mr. Otchere Darko to the Trojan Horse of the Greeks which is superficially good but inherently inundated with destructive mechanisms.

He wrote: “Gabby, be reminded that the NDC and its powerful Minority Caucus of which I’m a proud member won’t take advice from Ofori Atta’s lawyer on Social Media. Advise the IMF.”

Beware of the Greeks bearing a Gift Horse in the face. This call by Otchere Darko is a typical Trojan Horse.
