The founder and leader of the Life Assembly Centre, Rev. Dr Christian Kwabena Andrews popularly known as Osofo Kyiri Abosom has said that he is not ready to go by the President’s directive for partial re-opening of churches.

The President, Nana Akufo-Addo, during the presentation of the 10th Address to the nation on actions that the government is undertaking to stop the spread of the disease, announced the re-opening of churches.

He further said up to 100 people must be at a worship centre at a time adding that the leadership of various religious centres must ensure that they follow all necessary COVID-19 protocols.

Reacting to this directive on Angel 102.9FM’s Midday News on Tuesday, Kyiri Abosom who is also the founder of the Ghana Union Movement (GUM) said he is not ready to reopen his church.

“I have about 700 congregants, so how can I open the church so that others will come and be behind the gate for them to so that they will later accuse me of having a congregation which is over 100…even my first floor takes more people…,” he said.

He further described as ‘uncalled for’ the directive by the President that only 100 people must be allowed in church at a time.

“The claim that only 100 people should be at church at a specific time is uncalled for…I am not ready to open the church so they can come back and claim that Kyiri Abosom has more congregants than the required number,” he added.
