The minority through its ranking member on finance and MP for Ajumako Enyan Asiam Cassiel Ato Forson has summoned the minister for finance, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta to appear before Parliament to account for GH¢ 827.60 million of the petroum revenue.
This follows the finance committee’s report on the Annual Report of the Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) on the management of petroleum revenues for the year 2020 which was presented by the finance committee chairman, Mr Kwaku Kwarteng on the floor of Parliament today.
Contributing to the committee’s report, Ato Forson stated that a total amount of Gh¢827.60 million has been captured in the report which has used by the finance minister without proper account to show to.
Mr Ato Forson has therefore called on Speaker to authorize the Finance Minister to come with better explanation as to how GHC 827.60 million was spent.
“I agree with PIAC that the Minister of Finance must come properly in accounting for the GHC 827 Million…Mr Speaker, it’s not chicken money, it’s not chicken money, GHC 827 Million Ghana cedis is not chicken money…and this amount cannot be missing in our fiscal reporting…,” Casiel Ato Forson said.
