The Director of Communications for the New Patriotic Party, Yaw Buaben Asamoah, has debunked claims that delegates are given bribes to vote for certain people.

According to him, such monies given to the delegates to vote are not bribes but rather a way of ‘pampering’ them so they vote comfortably.

His comments come ahead of the NPP’s annual national delegates conference scheduled for Saturday, December 18, 2021 to Monday, December 20, 2021 at the Heroes Park in Kumasi.

Speaking to host of Angel FM’s Anopa Bofoↄ Morning show, Kofi Adoma Nwanwani on Thursday, December 16, he said that, the monies we give to them are not bribes. We are only pampering them and making them comfortable so they know where to place their thumbs during voting.

Mr. Yaw Buaben Asamoah added that the second reason monies are given to people who vote for them is to assist them in their difficult times.

Sometimes these people who vote or campaign for you may lose their jobs or be rendered unemployed but they may need your help in times of sickness, when their rent expires or even need money for naming ceremonies or school fees and you have to help them because it is by virtue of their votes that you are in power and enjoying free V8 and fuel for government’s business, he said in the Twi parlance.

The communications director also described persons who are criticizing government’s One District, One Factory (1D1F), policy as detractors.

He indicated that there is nothing wrong with government supporting already established businesses to increase the number of people they employ since 1D1F is aimed at resolving the unemployment crisis in the country.

He declared that the biggest challenge in the country at the moment is centered on employment for the teeming youth.

The party communicator further declared that Ghanaians would better appreciate and experience the benefits of Free SHS in 16 to 20 years when all Ghanaians are literates.
