Division One League side, Inter Allies have formally filed a protest to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) over their demotion to the third-tier after their alleged involvement in a match manipulation scandal.

They were found guilty alongside Obuasi AshantiGold for playing a role in match manipulation in their 7-0 loss to the miners in their final fixture in last season’s Ghana Premier League at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.

A former defender of the club, Hashmin Musah, scored two deliberate own goals to spoil a supposed bet which was staked for a 5-1 scoreline.

A verdict released by the Disciplinary Committee of the GFA after a thorough investigation proceeded and demoted both clubs to division two and a GH₵100,000.00 fine each.

A statement on the club’s website Wednesday, May 18, 2022, noted that it has officially appealed the ban.

“Inter Allies on Tuesday filed a formal appeal with the Ghana Football Association’s Appeals Committee, challenging the match manipulation sanction”

“Our appeal is against the decision of the D.C. sanctioning Inter Allies FC by demoting the club to the Division Two League and the payment of a GH₵100,000.00 fine” the Eleven is to One club said.

The decision is meant to appeal against the sanctions meted out to some players and officials of the team who are currently playing in the Division One league.

Meanwhile, Hashmin Musah who claimed his two own goals were meant to spoil the supposed bet placed on the match saw his initial ban of two years reduced to six months for the role he played in unravelling the match-fixing.
