Kumasi Asante Kotoko has appointed Eric Tinkler as the club’s new head coach with immediate effect.
The appointment of the CAF License A coach was made public in a statement on Friday, July 17, 2026.
“Asante Kotoko Sporting Club is excited to announce the appointment of Eric Tinkler as the club’s new Head Coach with immediate effect. The entire global Asante Kotoko family warmly welcomes Mr. Eric Tinkler to Kumasi,” parts of the statement said.
According to the club, the appointment brings to the Porcupine Warriors fraternity a world-class coach of “proven pedigree, extensive top-flight experience, and a distinguished” playing career at the highest level of the game.
The statement highlighted his tactical acumen, structured methodology, and fantastic record of player development.
Coach Tinkler will work closely with the club’s Director of Football, Stanley Menzo Purl, as the Porcupine Warriors forge on to build a formidable structure geared towards sustained success on the domestic and continental stage.
Commenting on his appointment, the former Maritzburg United and Orlando Pirates tactician says he feels proud to join one of the best clubs on the continent.

The former captain of the South African national team has over 30 years’ coaching experience in elite football on the continent.
He has managed some of South Africa’s biggest clubs, including Cape Town City FC, SuperSport United, Maritzburg United, Orlando Pirates, and Bidvest Wits FC.
During his time with these clubs, he secured a runner-up finish in the CAF Champions League with Orlando Pirates, a CAF Confederation Cup runner-up finish with SuperSport United, and domestic cup honours including MTN 8 championships and a Telkom Knockout Winners Medal.
