Head Coach of the Black Princesses of Ghana, Ben Fokuo is optimistic the team will be at the level it wanted when the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup commenced in Costa Rica.
Coach Ben Fokuo is certain his side will recover from their heavy defeat to France on Friday, July 29, 2022, during a pre-world cup friendly.Â
Black Princesses were hammered to a 4-0 scoreline by the French U-20 female team played at the Stade Pibarot Centre National du Football.
Speaking on Monday, August 1, 2022, ahead of the team’s departure from France to Costa Rica, Coach Fokuo indicated that the team had been in a recovery process following their loss to France.
“The tempo of the game with France was totally different from what we expected but now we have seen the problems and with training sessions we had, you can see that the players are picking up quickly and making sure they get their strength to the level of the competition.
“We will train hard and make sure our strength and fitness level is on the level we want it to be at,” he assures.
Giving an update on injuries in camp, he said there is no serious case after the game and other subsequence training which gives a clear indication that they are fit and ready for the tournament itself.
“We will play another match in Costa Rica, which will be our last match before the World Cup,” he added.
Coach Ben Fokuo is also hopeful they will not record any injury in camp before the tournament begins.
