The Deputy Director of Education in charge of Finance and Planning at Assin North District, Pinnock Amo-Tenkorang, has called on heads of schools to prioritize quizzes and reading competitions to improve the academic performance of students.

According to him, quizzes are a great way to have fun and also encourage students to look beyond their textual knowledge and establish a relationship between theory and application of learning concepts.

He made the clarion call when Assin Breku Old Students Association in collaboration with the Assin North Education Directorate organized an Interschool quiz competition for Junior High Schools in the Assin North District.

The program in which nine schools in the district participated focused on Science, Mathematics, English diction, and ICT.

After the intensive competition, the winning school, Assin Breku Presbyterian JHS, received a set of computers, educational materials, Lacoste, and Miksi Products.

The lead organizer of the competition, Mr Albert Hooper speaking to the media, said the competition was aimed at motivating the students to strive for excellence in education as they prepare to make advancements in their academic ladder.

The occasion was graced by the District Chief Executive for Assin North, Charles Ohene Andoh, and traditional leaders, among other dignitaries.
