Incumbent Member of Parliament for Odododiodio Constituency on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye has opened up on his next move when he bows out of Parliament.

He opined that taking another challenge in cleric duties could be imminent when his barely one decade as a lawmaker comes to an end.

The Odododiodoo MP’s statement stems from his refusal to seek another term in office after occupying the hot-cake parliamentary seat for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) since 2013.

“I am leaving Parliament because I am frustrated; the [political] parties really do not protect the people they have [in Parliament]. So, you are subjected to so much pressure that, after a time, you lose interest because you don’t get the sort of environment to be able to harmonize the talents and competence you have,” Nii Lante Vanderpuye said.

Speaking on Citi Eyewitness News, the outspoken politician said he would not hesitate putting on clerical attire.

“…I have always been a teacher, I would want to go back to the classroom possibly. But don’t be surprised if you see me in a pastoral collar,” the staunch NDC member stated in the interview monitored by Angelonline.com.gh.

The former Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) staff was elected MP of Odododiodio during the 2012 elections.

He went on to become an integral member under successive NDC governments including serving as a Minister of Youth and Sports and a Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry in the John Dramani Mahama’s government.
