A member of the Communication Team of the Movement for Change, Solomon Owusu, has warned the Electoral Commission (EC) of the possible consequences of their failure to uphold integrity in its operations before, during and after the 2024 elections.
Speaking on Angel Morning Show (AMS), Solomon Owusu drew parallels with historical events, such as Kwame Nkrumah’s removal from power, which he attributed, in part, to shortcomings in the EC’s practices during that era.
Owusu emphasized the importance of truthfulness and transparency in the current voter registration process, urging the EC to ensure accuracy and fairness in compiling voter rolls.
He stressed that it is imperative for all political parties and independent candidates to collaborate in preventing the registration of individuals below the legal voting age of 18, as this undermines the democratic foundation of the electoral system.
Mr Owusu further highlighted the significance of the upcoming generation of voters, noting that those who have recently turned 18, born in 2006, have already witnessed significant political events, including challenges faced under different governmental administrations.
In a call to action, Owusu encouraged Senior High School students who have attained voting age to actively participate in the registration process.
