A former Deputy Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Berekum West Constituency of the Brong East Region, Simon Awelinga has confessed and begged former Berekum West District Chief Executive (DCE), Akwasi Osei to forgive him for being part of a group of people who planned and led demonstration against him.

The demonstration, Simon Awelinga speaking on Angel News on Sunday said was orchestrated by some notable persons within the NPP party and was aimed at causing public disaffection for the former DCE.

“He was not in support of our candidate, Ohene Gyan, also known as Asoreba who we were all backing as Parliamentary candidate hence the decision to lead that planned and meaningless demonstration against him…,” he told News Anchor, Ohemaa Sakyiwaa.

Mr Awelinga who has also resigned from his post due to what he described as discrimination against him by the other executives alleged that their MP, Constituency Chairman, current women’s organiser and other persons were behind the demonstration with the aim of causing affection for him.

“We decided to do this as a pay back time for him and also to punish him for leaving our camp and not supporting our candidate…it was part of the mafia tactics…,” he revealed.

He continued that the demonstration against Isaac Osei ‘was a factor that led to his removal from office as DCE in Berekum West’.

“We have indeed regretted our actions because we believe Berekum West would have been better off if Isaac Osei was still DCE…at least most of the works he undertook would have been more than 80 to 90% complete if he was still in the helm of affairs…,” he added.

Interestingly, Simon Awelinga has resigned from the position of Deputy Organiser of the NPP due largely to the fear that the same crop of people would hatch plans to oust him as well.

Below is his resignation letter:

Dear Sir,

RESIGNATION
I write to officially tender in my resignation as the constituency Deputy organizer of our party effective immediately. After much reflection and consideration, I have come to this difficult decision to resign from my position as a constituency executive due to one or two personal reasons.

I am grateful for the opportunities and experiences I have gained during my time with the party at the constituency level. I would like to thank all the constituency executives, electoral area coordinators, polling station executives and party faithful for the support and guidance provided to me during my tenure as Deputy Organizer in the party. I wish to state however that I am still a true member of our great party and would continue to campaign for DMB our next president coming December, 7th 2024.

I wish to use this opportunity to render unqualified apology to all Party Faithful and members especially Hon. Isaac Kwasi Osei for leading unnecessary demonstration against Him after the 2020 elections never again.

I wish all the constituency executives a continued success in their future endeavours and I hope that my decision is received with understanding.

Yours Faithfully,
……..Signed……..
Awelinga Simon (MR).
Outgoing constituency Deputy Organizer
Berekum west (NPP).
