‘Always think Ghana first in your rulings’ – Supreme Court told

The Director of Operations of the Progressive People’s Party (PPP), Divine Nkrumah, is urging the Supreme Court to exercise caution in its decisions, as it is the final hope for the public in matters of justice.

According to him, it is time for the Supreme Court to prioritize the country in all its actions rather than being influenced.

Speaking to Kwadwo Oppong Kyeremeh on the Angel Morning Show on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, he said:

“Considering how the Supreme Court is conducting its affairs, I’m saying we need to put everything aside — the partisanship, and the politics. I believe they need to put the country first, because the way they are handling the issue of vacant seats makes it seem as if we’re in a crisis,” he stated.

Mr. Nkrumah emphasized that other important cases are awaiting rulings from the Supreme Court.

“There are other important issues still pending before the Supreme Court, yet they haven’t delivered judgments on them despite public inquiries. The urgency given to the vacant seats issue isn’t being applied to the LGBTQ case before them. As I speak, there’s also the e-levy case pending, but it seems they selectively choose which cases to address, which isn’t right,” he said.

Divine Nkrumah added that the Supreme Court’s approach to ruling on the vacant seats resembles the unpredictability of a football game.
