President-elect John Dramani Mahama has called on the United States to strengthen its support for Ghana’s energy sector, emphasizing the need for enhanced cooperation to address the country’s growing energy challenges.
Speaking during a courtesy call from the US Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia E. Palmer, at his office in Cantonments, Mahama stated that Ghana is ready to continue and deepen its relationship with the USA.
According to Mahama, it is more critical than ever for the USA and Ghana to cooperate, given the current economic and financial challenges facing the country.
He explained that the most important focus should be the energy sector.
Acknowledging the US’s technological expertise and comparative advantage in energy, Mahama expressed a desire for closer collaboration to resolve key issues.
He also discussed security and agriculture, areas in which he intends to seek shared solutions when he assumes office.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Virginia Palmer congratulated John Mahama, stating that the United States is ready to support Ghana.
She conveyed greetings from the US government and assured Mahama that the US is committed to deepening the partnership with Ghana.
