A National Communication team member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kwaku Banahene, on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, has accused President Akufo-Addo of introducing gangsterism into Ghana’s elections.
During a panel discussion on the Angel Morning Show (Freedom), he claimed that President Akufo-Addo’s failure to investigate the killings of six and eight people in the 2016 and 2020 General Elections respectively fanned the frame of violence in 2024.
“President Akufo-Addo has incorporated his violent actions during his opposition into his administration…the President ordered soldiers and police officers to fire gunshots anytime the NPP was losing,” he said.
In his words, the police chief in Ayawaso Wuogon revealed that the bulk of the uniformed police officers are not his personnel but rather NPP members who have been issued police uniforms.
“NPP task force who have been given military uniforms commit crimes and are frequently identified as soldiers when its not true,” he stated.
