I’ll serve Eastern Region diligently when elected Council of State member – Boso-Gua Gyaasehene

The Gyaasehene of the Boso-Gua Traditional Area in the Eastern Region, Oseadeeyo Adu Kwaku II, known in private life as James Benjamin Cole, has assured the people of the region that he will not disappoint them if elected as their representative in the Council of State.

Speaking to Angel News’ Jaman Dehyie Opambour, the traditional leader emphasized his commitment to advocating for the region’s developmental needs.

According to him, he will serve as a strong voice to remind the government about the essential infrastructure and social interventions needed to improve the lives of the people in the Eastern Region.

“As a chief and someone who is still energetic, I will use my experiences and the diplomacy to lobby for developments to the region if I am giving the nod by the assembly members,” he said after filing his nomination at the Electoral Commission’s regional office in Koforidua, on Tuesday, January 28, 2025.

He further pledged to foster a smooth working relationship amongst all 33 Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) in the region to enhance development and ensure effective governance.

His nomination adds to the growing interests in the Council of State elections. Candidates are voted for specific terms to represent their regions on the council which advises the President on legal matters.

Oseadeyo Adu Kwaku II, an academician, farmer, and philanthropist, has excelled in various fields, leveraging his vast experience and expertise in management.

He is a product of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS), United Kingdom, among other institutions.

He has served on several committees, including Advisory Committee member of the Volta Gorge Protection Programme of Volta River Authority (VRA), Akosombo (from April 2021 to date).

He has also been:

• Advocacy Ambassador, for the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM) based in Bonn Germany (since November, 2017)

• Member, the development of Curriculum for the Agriculture TVET Citrus and Pineapple Value chains (2014-2015), and Fisheries and Aquaculture Value chain (November 2017).

• Member, National Technical Working Group (NTWG) on Agriculture, Technical Vocational Education and Training (ATVET) Ghana (September 2015 to date).

• Elected Co- Chair, Farmers Global Major Groups Facilitating Committee at the United

Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) based in Nairobi, Kenya , February 2013 – January 2015)

• Elected World Board Member, International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movements (IFOAM), based in Bonn Germany, from October 2011 to November 2014.

• Vice President and Executive Member, Intercontinental Network of Organic Farmers Organisations (INOFO) affiliated to IFOAM, from October 2011 till November 2014. Additionally, a Member of INOFO Board of Convenors, Representing West African farmers (from 2008 to 2014).

• Member, National Technical Working Group (NTWG) on the Global Good Agricultural Practices (GlobalGAP) Standard to develop Ghana national interpretation guidelines initiated by the secretariat of Ghana National Horticultural Task force and supported by PIP (from 2010 to 2015).

• Member of the Ad-hoc Expert Meeting on Facilitating Access of Small Organic Farmers in Developing countries to Supermarket shelves, organised by UNCTAD in collaboration with the secretariats of GLOBALGAP (Food Plus GmbH) and IFOAM, Geneva (December, 2009)

• Member of various Horticultural and Organic Associations (Horticulturist Association of Ghana, Sea-freight Pineapple Exporters of Ghana –SPEG, Ghana Organic Agriculture Network, Ghana France Chamber of Commerce Industry and Agriculture, COLEACP, IFOAM).

• Patron of Shared Vision Smallholder Organic farmers association in Ghana.

• Training Adult farmers and Agricultural students in organic and fair-trade farming (Internship training for university students both local and abroad).
