The Director General of the National Service Authority (NSA), Felix Gyamfi, has revealed that the authority is facing serious financial challenges, leading to delays in salary payments for national service personnel.
Speaking on the Angel Morning Show on Friday, February 14, 2025, hosted by Saddick Adams, Gyamfi disclosed that some personnel have gone unpaid for over five to six months due to administrative and financial setbacks.
“Ever since we assumed office at the NSA on January 23, 2025, it has not been easy especially with issues of ghost names, delayed allowances, and stalled projects. Some personnel have worked for over five months without receiving their salaries” he stated.
He identified fraudulent payroll entries, commonly referred to as “ghost names” as a major drain on the NSA’s finances, affecting the timely disbursement of allowances.
Despite these setbacks, Gyamfi remains optimistic, stating that every challenge presents an opportunity. He assured that his administration is actively working on measures to streamline payments and ensure service personnel receive their allowances on time.
“We are working tirelessly to resolve these issues. There are several projects that need attention, and while we haven’t spoken publicly about them yet, we are engaging the necessary authorities to find solutions. Our focus is to stabilize finances and get ready for key initiatives, including agricultural projects” he added.
As salary delays continue to affect service personnel across the country, Gyamfi reassured that the NSA is prioritizing their welfare and will take the necessary steps to prevent future delays.
His comments reassure personnel and restore hope in many young graduates who rely on the national service allowance as their primary source of income, making its timely payment crucial.
