Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the recent gold shop theft at Twifo Praso in the Twifo Atimorkwa District of the Central Region.

Acting on a tip-off, police apprehended the suspects in Egyaa, Mfantsiman Municipality.

The suspects include a 15-year-old girl, who was captured on CCTV stealing from the gold shop, and her boyfriend, whose identity has not been disclosed.

Investigations suggest that the 15-year-old recruited an 8-year-old girl to assist her in the crime. Reports indicate that after the theft, she distributed the stolen money among her accomplices, with her boyfriend allegedly receiving GH¢15,000.

However, the 8-year-old accomplice remains at large, and police are actively pursuing other individuals linked to the crime.

The incident, which took place on January 28, 2025, was first reported by Angel News, revealing that two young girls, aged 8 and 15, had stolen GH¢41,000 and an unspecified amount of gold from a gold shop in Twifo Praso.

The girls had posed as customers and asked about purchasing mercury. They then requested help from the shop attendant, Enoch Boateng, who briefly stepped out to buy an item from a nearby shop. Seizing the opportunity, the girls stole the cash and gold before fleeing the scene.
