Former chairperson of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Hajia Hamdatu Ibrahim Hussein, has asserted that Ghana’s significant challenges can be attributed to the unavailability of a cohesive national policy agenda.

However, she emphasized the need for a universally accepted document that can guide the country’s governance.

Speaking during a panel discussion with Kojo Oppong Kyeremeh on the Angel Morning Show (AMS) on February 28, 2025, Hajia Hamdatu pointed out that Ghanaians are enduring hardships because successive governments introduce their economic framework, rather than building upon a unified national strategy.

Hajia Hamdatu remarked, “Every administration seeks to fulfill its manifesto promises upon taking office, but this approach hinders national development,” She remarked.

According to her, establishing a comprehensive national policy agenda would foster stability and continuity in Ghana’s development efforts, irrespective of which party holds power.

She advocated for a collaborative approach to governance that rises above political differences and urged Ghanaians to unite, regardless of their political affiliations, to support critical sectors such as education, health, and agriculture.

She highlighted that, “We all have to come to a converging point to look at the four semantic areas.”

Moreover, she expressed her discontent with the tendency to criticize governmental performance, stating, “I do not subscribe to the notion that this government has not performed well. Every administration has contributed in its own way since the era of Kwame Nkrumah.”
