Member of Parliament for Akuapem North Constituency of the Eastern Region, Sammi Awuku, recent data from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) contradicts claims by the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), that the economy is in disarray.

In a social media post on Thursday, April 17, 2025, following the 4th review meeting between the Government of Ghana and the IMF, Mr. Awuku declared that the outcome “put to rest” what he described as “false allegations” by the NDC. He pointed to the IMF’s own figures, which indicate that Ghana’s economy grew by 5.7% in 2024—well above the initially projected 4%.

“That’s not just recovery, that’s resilience,” the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentarian stated in the social media post.

Mr. Awuku highlighted the impressive performance of the mining and construction sectors, booming gold exports, and increased remittances as key contributors to this growth. He also revealed that Ghana’s international reserves have reached $8.9 billion, the highest in recent years.

He further emphasized that the Staff Level Agreement reached after the 4th IMF review was a direct result of “tough strategic decisions” made by the NPP government. He contrasted this with what he described as the NDC’s attempt to “spin tales of crisis and mismanagement.”

He also stated confidently that , “The NPP laid the groundwork for Ghana’s comeback, and the party will surely come back better
