Afua Asantewaa’s second Guinness World Record attempt rejected

Must Read

Ghanaian singer Afua Asantewaa’s second attempt for the Guinness World Record (GRW) for the Longest Singing Marathon by an Individual has been unsuccessful.

According to an official statement by the Guinness World Records, Afua’s record attempt was disqualified due to a breach of the guidelines.

The rules state that participants are allowed a 5-minute rest break for every hour of continuous singing.

However, Afua took longer breaks than permitted, specifically a 15-minute break when she only had 5 minutes of rest time and a 105-minute break when she only had 10 minutes of accrued rest time.

This is the second time in succession that Afua has had her attempt at attaining that feat rejected after her first attempt in 2024 was rejected by the GWR.

Despite the rejection, Afua expressed gratitude to her team, supporters, and sponsors in a statement released after the decision.

“It’s been a challenging yet rewarding journey,” she said, thanking notable figures such as Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II and various organizations for their support.

In her statement, she  also thanked her sponsors, including Askof Productions Limited, and acknowledged the support of the media fraternity, blogs, and individuals who have followed her journey.

She expressed her appreciation for the experience and the opportunities it has brought her, and hinted that she will continue to work towards her goals.
