The Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, has summoned the Acting CEO of the Ghana Gold Board following the emergence of a viral video featuring Sammy Gyamfi distributing cash in a public setting.
In the footage, Mr Gyamfi is seen handing an undisclosed sum of foreign currency, reportedly in US dollars, to Patricia Oduro Koranteng, better known as Nana Agradaa, a former fetish priestess turned evangelist.
Sources within the Jubilee House have confirmed that Mr Gyamfi is required to meet with the Chief of Staff to elucidate the circumstances surrounding this contentious act.
The incident has sparked widespread public backlash and raised serious concerns regarding the ethical standards expected of individuals in public office.
Critics argue that this display may undermine the integrity of President John Dramani Mahama’s recently introduced Code of Conduct for Public Officials.
This Code is a cornerstone of the government’s broader anti-corruption initiative, emphasising the values of integrity, transparency, and accountability in public service.
In a statement released on Sunday, 11 May, Mr Gyamfi expressed his regret over the incident, framing it as a personal gesture of goodwill that was never intended for public scrutiny.
However, insiders close to the Presidency suggest that the Chief of Staff is treating the matter with the utmost seriousness, given its potential political ramifications and the reputational risks it poses to the administration.
