The Mayor of Tema, Ebiere Bright-Fansintei, has pledged to enhance the safety of residents by installing street lights to reduce crime and accident rates in the city.
According to her, there is a significant lack of lighting in Tema, a matter she has discussed with the Regional Minister, Linda Akweley Ocloo.
She hopes that these improvements will be implemented soon, as it aligns with the regional minister’s goal to make Accra brighter and more appealing.
This announcement was made during her thanksgiving service at Adonai Chapel in Community 12 on Sunday, May 11, 2025.
Ebi Bright also emphasised the importance of cleanliness in Tema to promote good health among residents. She expressed the need for Tema to reclaim its status as the industrial and harbour city of Ghana.
Furthermore, she acknowledged the poor condition of roads in various Tema communities and assured residents that she is committed to fulfilling her promises.
“Like you said, Tema is very dark, and I think it is not only Tema that is affected. That is why my regional minister has already paved the way for us to urgently implement lighting across our cities and towns.”
“Because the light not only shows us where we’re going, but it also reduces accidents, enhances safety on our roads and in our neighbourhoods, and lowers crime,” she stated.
