CLOGSAG threatens strike over unmet salary and service conditions

Must Read

The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG), has issued a firm two-week ultimatum to the government, demanding the immediate implementation of a new salary structure and improved conditions of service for its members.

It pointed out that, if these demands are not met, the Association warns of a potential nationwide strike.

In a statement released after an emergency meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) on Thursday, June 12, 2025, CLOGSAG expressed deepening frustration over ongoing delays and government inaction.

This dissatisfaction persists despite multiple correspondences and signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) that remain unaddressed.

CLOGSAG referenced two critical letters, dated December 20, 2024, and May 6, 2025, as formal reminders sent to government officials regarding this urgent matter.

The Association highlighted that pressure is mounting from its members due to the stalled implementation of promised benefits, deemed vital for fair compensation.

As part of the resolutions from the emergency meeting, CLOGSAG is calling on the Minister for Labour, Jobs, and Employment to ensure the prompt and effective implementation of the agreed salary structure and conditions of service.

The union has set a deadline of June 30, 2025, for the government to respond positively.

“Failure to initiate implementation,” the statement warned, “the Association would have no other option than to embark on a nationwide strike,” they warned.

CLOGSAG’s leadership remains resolute in its commitment to securing just compensation for civil and local government workers.

The statement has made it clear that if their demands are not met within the specified timeframe, they will not hesitate to take industrial action.
