A 32-year-old filmmaker has been arrested in Accra after a viral video surfaced showing him threatening to shoot any police officer he encountered.
The suspect, identified as Israel Agbo Forson of North Legon, was apprehended on Monday, June 23, 2025, during an intelligence-led operation by the Accra Regional Police Command.
The video, widely shared on social media, prompted swift condemnation and action from authorities.
In a statement released on June 24, the Ghana Police Service confirmed the arrest and announced that the suspect is currently on police enquiry bail while investigations continue.
“Such conduct is not only unlawful but also undermines public peace and the authority of the Police,” said Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region.
She added that the police remain resolute in addressing acts of provocation with the seriousness they deserve.
Law enforcement officials have emphasized their commitment to protecting personnel and upholding order in the face of public incitement.
“We will not tolerate threats or intimidation directed at our officers. Anyone who engages in such acts will face the full force of the law,” a spokesperson for the Command asserted.
The statement also called on the public to desist from actions that fuel tension or interfere with police duties, reinforcing the importance of mutual respect between citizens and security personnel.
Authorities believe that public cooperation is vital in preserving the peace and safety of communities.
As investigations continue, the police are urging anyone with further information to come forward.
The Ghana Police Service reaffirmed its dedication to due process while sending a clear message that threats against officers will be prosecuted without hesitation.
