Shama MUSEC holds crunch meeting to restore calm and peace in municipality

The Security Council (MUSEC) of the Shama Municipality in the Western Region, has held a crucial meeting aimed at restoring peace in the area following a violent confrontation that occurred among some youth from neighboring communities.

The meeting, which has become significant in promoting peace and harmony in the municipality, Angelonline.com.gh can confirm, was held on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, to find a lasting solution to the matter.

“As I speak to you now, there has been some level of peace in the district by courtesy of police intervention; meanwhile, there is a MUSEC meeting currently ongoing to find a lasting peace,” Nana Fynn of Angel News reported.

MUSEC’s move follows the police’s swift intervention and further maintains a peaceful atmosphere in the area.

This came after tensions flared among youth from four neighboring communities—Abuesi, Shama, Inchaban, and Aboadze. It began two weeks ago during a social gathering organized by local youth, where a misunderstanding between young people from Shama and Abuesi led to a physical assault on the Abuesi group by their Shama counterparts.

The incident triggered a vow of retaliation from the Abuesi youth. Over the past weekend, a second gathering turned chaotic when the Abuesi youth arrived prepared for confrontation.

The ensuing clashes extended beyond Shama, drawing in participants from Inchaban and Aboadze, further escalating the situation.

Following the police’s immediate intervention, two individuals have been arrested for their involvement in the violence, while one person sustained injuries and has been hospitalized.
