The Member of Parliament (MP) for Akim Oda, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has criticized government over its handling of scandal cases involving the Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML), the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA).

He said there is a need to address these corruption cases without political bias, especially in relation to the arrest of some suspected officials linked to PPA, SML, and GRA.

According to Mr. Acquah, the politicisation of critical issues such as corruption has hindered progress and created unnecessary divisions.

Speaking to Ohemaa Sakyiwaa on the Angel Morning Show (AMS), he stressed that partisan politics should not overshadow the need for collective action in addressing these matters.

“We must learn to prioritize the common good over selfish political interests. Arrest over the SML deals is much to do about nothing. It’s only when we choose Ghana first, accountability, and cooperation over partisan politics that our beloved country can overcome these challenges and build a brighter future for all,” he stated.

The former Deputy Health Minister highlighted the consequences of how some corruption cases have been handled due to partisanship.

“We have issues to talk about, the Saglemi housing project and other related cases that were before court were cancelled just after they resumed power, are we being fair.”

“This approach is purely politics I must say for a fact, the level of impartial in this administration is incomparable, their roles are too critical to be influenced by partisan politics,” he lamented.

He added that as the nation struggles with various issues, it is essential to separate partisan politics from national discourse.

“By prioritizing the national interest and promoting a culture of collaboration, the country can overcome its challenges and build a brighter future for all its citizens. It’s time for leaders and citizens alike to embrace a more inclusive and less partisan approach to governance.”
