Political Assistant to Alan Kyeremanteng, Nana Yaw Sarpong, has asserted that the actions and behaviour of the Electoral Commission (EC) towards Ghana’s electoral system have been irregular and unpredictable, lacking a consistent and reliable pattern.
According to him, the attitude of Deputy Chairperson of the EC, Dr. Bossman Asare, has raised significant concerns regarding his reliability and trustworthiness due to his inconsistent statements.
He noted that, his tendency to alter his opinions has created doubts about his ability to maintain a stable and dependable stance.
During a panel discussion on the Angel Morning Show (AMS) on Thursday, July 3, 2025, he questioned the whereabouts of the original pink sheet provided to the EC, given that both the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) claim they do not possess their copies.
“EC has not been consistent with Ghana and Bossman Asare cannot be trusted. I am asking a fundamental question: both NDC and NPP say they do not have their pink sheet, so what of the original copy with the EC,” he queried.
Mr. Sarpong further stated that he has always believed the EC’s actions will ultimately reveal their shortcomings without anyone needing to confront them.
“I said it from day one that no one will haunt the three ECs, but their work will expose them. When Dan Pare was the Inspector General of Police (IGP), he called for a security meeting with the political stakeholders to establish some rules regarding the collation centres.
“We questioned him, and he made an assurance, but we all saw what transpired.”
He expressed gratitude that Ghanaians remain peaceful, noting, “If it were about rules, most people flaunted them at the 19 polling stations. I would have declared a re-run within the whole constituency.”
“Bossman Asare never answers questions correctly; he is never precise with his answers and has never provided a straightforward yes or no response,” Mr. Sarpong opined.
