The Minister for Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has reminded the police administration that the resources and trust given to them to equip their work is not a license for intimidation.

He thus urged the police to partner with the citizens because internal security strives when citizens and security agencies stand together.

“They are instruments of protection and not oppression, you are not to use your authority to abuse the very citizens you have sworn to protect you are guardians of the republic not rulers of it,” the minister stated.

Mr. Muntaka said this when delivering a speech at the handing over of the 40 armoured vehicles to the police administration at the police headquarters on Thursday, December 4, 2025.

He added that the armored vehicles are instruments of protection and not oppression, cautioning the police on the abuse of power.

He further charged the police to show “professionalism, discipline, integrity and respect” in their services every single day, because the citizens look up to them not only for safety but for fairness.

“I urge you to let your actions reflect the pride of this uniform, the honour of the oath and the value that distinguishes the Ghana police service, let this new fleet of armoured vehicles empower you not to dominate but to serve better, respond faster and protect more effectively,” Mr. Muntaka also said.
