The High Court has placed an injunction on the funeral for celebrated Ghanaian musician Daddy Lumba scheduled for this weekend, temporarily restraining all arrangements until an ongoing legal dispute is resolved.
In a court directive released on Friday, December 12, 2025, the judge issued the order after a party involved in the matter filed an application challenging aspects of the funeral preparations.
As a result, the funeral cannot proceed until the court determines who holds the lawful authority over the ceremony and its related decisions.
As part of its ruling, the court instructed both the immediate and extended families of the late musician to sign an undertaking at the court registry within five days, agreeing to share any costs that may arise during the injunction period.
Additionally, the court ordered the Abusapanin to separate Daddy Lumba’s funeral funds from all other funds and to hold meetings with both families to ensure transparency and proper coordination moving forward.
While the full details of the dispute remain undisclosed, sources suggest the matter may be connected to disagreements surrounding family rights and the organization of the burial.
Court officials say a new date for the funeral will be communicated once the pending issues have been fully addressed.
