The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has pledged to address the long-standing infrastructure deficits at the Asesewa Government Hospital in the Eastern Region.
During a surprise visit, he observed that the facility’s existing infrastructure is inadequate to meet the growing healthcare needs of the population.

“The government is committed to addressing these challenges, but management must also take necessary local decisions to improve service delivery while we work on the broader interventions,” Mr. Akandoh said.

He assured the hospital of support to improve staffing levels and urged management to support health workers posted to hard-to-reach areas.
He further revealed the government’s plans to prioritize and retool government health facilities, particularly in deprived communities like Asesewa, as part of primary healthcare reforms.

The Minister’s visit is part of a broader effort to strengthen healthcare delivery and advance Universal Health Coverage.

He will soon embark on regional visits to engage stakeholders and ensure medical officers are provided with decent accommodation and basic support in underserved areas.
