The Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has called on the John Dramani Mahama administration to prioritize the completion of the Agenda 111 projects to expand healthcare access in the country.
Speaking at the Institute of Economic Research and Public Policy (IERPP) Lecture Series on Monday, March 2, 2026, he appealed to the current administration to continue this project, ensuring that all abandoned facilities are completed and commissioned.
“In all humility, I submit that to realize this dream, the current administration must do all within its power to continue this projects and ensure that it is commissioned,” adding that ‘it is Ghana’s dream,” he said.
He emphasized that the projects, which were set in motion under the former president Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration, aimed at providing quality healthcare service within rural communities.
“When there is no hospital in your district, illness is not just a health problem its an economic catastrophe. People lose working hours, families spend money they do not have on transport to distant facilities,” he noted.
